Our 2024 B-Corp Recertification: A New Milestone

Baabuk’s journey as a B-Corp began in 2017 with an impact score of 80.1, just above the threshold for certification. Since then, we’ve been dedicated to improving across all areas of our business, guided by the principles of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

With our 2024 recertification, we are proud to announce an overall score of 99.5, a substantial increase from our last recertification score in 2021of 89.6. This score also stands well above the average of 50.9 for businesses submitting to B-Corp certification, reaffirming our commitment to leading the way in responsible business practices.

What is B-Corp Certification?

B-Corp Certification, managed by the nonprofit organization B Lab, measures a company’s social and environmental performance across five categories: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. It is the only certification that evaluates a company’s entire operation and business model, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of accountability and impact.

To become certified, businesses undergo the B Impact Assessment, a rigorous evaluation of their operations, including supply chain practices, employee benefits, environmental initiatives, and community engagement. To maintain certification, companies must recertify every three years, meeting updated and often more challenging standards.

A Closer Look at Our 2024 Scores

B-Corp evaluates companies across five key categories, and we’re excited to share our progress since our last recertification in 2021:

Governance: 16.0 (up from 15.1)

Governance assesses mission alignment, ethics, and transparency. This year’s increase reflects our enhanced stakeholder engagement processes and our commitment to embedding social and environmental responsibility into our decision-making structure.

Workers: 25.2 (up from 22.9)

The well-being of our team has always been a priority. We’ve expanded employee benefits, improved financial security measures, and enhanced health and wellness initiatives to support our global team, including those in Nepal.

Community: 34.1 (up from 32.4)

Our commitment to community impact remains strong. Over the past three years, we’ve strengthened our supply chain practices, engaged in more community-driven initiatives, and expanded efforts to promote equity and inclusion.

Environment: 20.3 (up from 15.3)

Sustainability is core to Baabuk’s mission. Our significant increase in this category reflects improvements in resource management, supply chain optimization, and reductions in emissions across our operations.

Customers: 3.7 (no change)

This relatively new category evaluates data privacy, ethical marketing, and customer satisfaction. While our score remains steady, we continue to prioritize transparency, ethical practices, and exceptional service for our customers.

Reflecting on Our Progress

Since our initial certification, Baabuk’s score has increased by nearly 25%, from 80.1 in 2017 to 99.5 in 2024. Compared to 2021, we’ve made meaningful gains in nearly every category.

While we’re proud of our progress, we see this recertification as a stepping stone rather than a destination. Over the next three years, we’ll focus on deepening our community engagement, advancing our environmental initiatives, and further enhancing our customer stewardship.
